Friday the thirteenth on 2013 not sure if that makes it more unlucky or less. Today we were driving to to Christchurch a 350km or so drive from Blenheim. We packed up and set off then were stopped as the laundry company blocked our exit for a bit. Once they were gone we got going stopping at a mobil petrol station to fill up grab some sandwiches and some monsters.

I got a ham Dagwood which seemed to be ham cheese tomato sauce some coleslaw and tomatoes. It was quite tasty as it turned out. Byrnie grabbed a bacon and chicken unfortunately it contained tomatoes Byrnie’s mortal enemy so he only took a bite before rejecting it.

The day was wonderful bright and clear and the weather held all day as we made our way across the landscape we got some really nice scenery to look at and we took a couple of stops to take pictures en route.

About an hour out we stopped at a little cafe for some food and a break. It was called the Mainline Station Cafe and it had a railway theme to it. We both had flat white coffee and then I had a steak sandwich and byrnie had a hotpot. The sandwich was very tasty and came with sort of sauteed potatoes and some salad. We ate our food then swapped places so I drove the rest of the way to Christchurch.

It wasn’t much further maybe an hours drive towards the end it was all round the houses. It didn’t take that long to arrive at our hotel Argyle on the park. We had a nice suite with a nice kitchenette sofa armchair sky TV. We had a single bed in the living room and a double in the bedroom. It was my turn for the double this time so I got the bedroom.

We watched some tv did some photo checking and then watched Men in black 3. When that finished we were hungry so went out to find some dinner. It was really cold out freezing cold so we didn’t go far. We went to Nandos and got a mixed platter which had half a chicken some chicken tenders and some chicken wings with piri-piri chips. We got them cooked mild style so we could add hot sauce as needed.

The chicken was pretty good tender and tasty we headed back via a garage grabbing some drinks and breakfast things for tomorrow.
